11 Soldiers Martyred, 12 Militants Killed in Bajaur Attack: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Eleven soldiers were martyred and twelve militants were killed after a terrorist attack on a joint security check post in Bajaur. According to ISPR, militants attempted to breach the post on February 16, 2026. Security forces responded swiftly and foiled the assault. Troops engaged the attackers with precision and eliminated twelve militants during the exchange. The operation demonstrated strong coordination between security forces and law enforcement agencies.

ISPR stated that the attackers were Indian-sponsored terrorists who tried to damage national security. However, alert troops stopped their advance and forced them to retreat. Security forces chased the fleeing militants and neutralized them. The intense firefight highlighted the professionalism and bravery of the personnel. Authorities praised the troops for their courage and quick response.

In desperation, the attackers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the perimeter wall of the check post. The powerful blast caused severe structural damage and led to the collapse of part of the facility. As a result, eleven soldiers embraced martyrdom in the line of duty. The explosion also damaged nearby civilian homes. One young girl was martyred, while seven others, including women and children, were injured.

Following the attack, security forces launched sanitization operations in the area. They aim to eliminate any remaining militants hiding nearby. ISPR confirmed that counterterrorism operations will continue under the national action plan “Azm-e-Istehkam.” Authorities vowed to wipe out foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country. Security measures have been intensified to prevent further incidents.
