Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned the Adiala Jail Superintendent on March 4 for contempt of court after failing to arrange a meeting between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, despite judicial orders.

The acting Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Sardar Sarfaraz Dogar, issued a written order in response to a petition filed by Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry.

According to the court order, the jail superintendent must appear in person to explain why the court’s directives were not implemented. The refusal to facilitate the meeting was deemed a violation of the court’s ruling issued on January 28.

The IHC has directed the jail official to submit a response in person, with the case adjourned until March 4.

Imran Khan had earlier filed a petition through his lawyer, Advocate Faisal Fareed Chaudhry, against the jail authorities for obstructing the scheduled meeting.
