Washington: White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt has criticized India’s imposition of a 100 percent tariff on U.S. agricultural products, calling it unfair.
She stated that by imposing this tariff, India has deceived the United States, as it effectively makes the export of American goods nearly impossible.
Leavitt further highlighted that the European Union has imposed a 50 percent tariff on U.S. dairy products, Japan has a 700 percent tariff on U.S. rice, and Canada has a 300 percent tariff on U.S. butter and cheese.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that the tariffs set to take effect on April 2 will be significant, and he has stated that these tariffs will mark an important turning point for the U.S. economy.
