PMDC Caps Private Medical College Fees at Rs 1.8 Million Annually

Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has finalised a directive to reduce the tuition fees for medical education in private institutions, marking a significant step toward making healthcare education more affordable in the country.
According to official sources, the new fee structure was determined by the Medical Education Committee, formed under the instructions of the Prime Minister. The decision will be formally communicated to provincial governments for implementation.
Under the new policy, the annual tuition fee for MBBS and BDS programs at private medical and dental colleges has been capped at Rs 1.8 million. This fee limit will be applied uniformly across all academic years of the respective programmes.
Starting from the 2025 academic session, the policy allows for a maximum annual fee increase of 5%. From 2026 onwards, any rise in tuition fees will be linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), ensuring a transparent and regulated adjustment process.
