Saudi Arabia Announces Post-Hajj Umrah Programme

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that Umrah visas for international pilgrims will resume from 14 Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH (June 11, 2025) and will continue to be issued until the end of Ramadan.
According to the ministry, visa issuance will be suspended starting from 1 Shawwal, and only those with already issued visas will be allowed entry into the Kingdom until 15 Shawwal 1447 AH. All Umrah pilgrims must depart before 15 Dhul-Qi’dah 1447 AH.
These restrictions aim to reduce overcrowding during the Hajj season to facilitate pilgrims.
Meanwhile, the Saudi government has announced strict penalties for unauthorised Hajj attempts. Violators will face fines ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 riyals, imprisonment, deportation, and a 10-year entry ban.
Pakistan’s Ambassador Ahmed Farooq noted that last year, 11,000 Pakistanis overstayed their visas in Makkah. This year, the Pakistani government is providing electronic bracelets to pilgrims to enhance monitoring. Overstaying the permitted period is being labelled a “serious offence”.
