Nationwide Public Holiday Announced on May 28

Islamabad: The federal government has announced a nationwide public holiday on May 28, 2025, in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer, a day commemorating Pakistan’s successful nuclear tests in 1998.
According to official sources, this holiday had already been included in the annual list of holidays issued in December 2024. The previous notification confirmed May 28 as a public holiday to mark one of the most significant events in Pakistan’s history.
Youm-e-Takbeer is observed every year to honour Pakistan becoming the seventh nuclear power in the world and the first in the Muslim world, following nuclear tests conducted in the Chagai hills of Balochistan.
