President and PM confer ‘Baton of Field Marshal’ upon General Asim Munir

Islamabad: In a historic ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conferred the ‘Baton of Field Marshal’ upon Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir in recognition of his exceptional leadership and service.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said: “Today is a proud and historic day. “We honour our heroes whose leadership led to a decisive and unparalleled victory against the enemy.”
He lauded General Munir’s strategic leadership during recent conflicts, particularly Operation Bunyān Marsoos, stating that his determination and vision were instrumental in ensuring Pakistan’s security and sovereignty.
The Prime Minister added that the armed forces’ strong and effective response forced the enemy to back down, shattering the myth of their superiority.
The ceremony was attended by top civil and military leadership, including federal cabinet members, service chiefs, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, PPP Chair Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and chief ministers and governors of Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan.
