PM Shehbaz Sharif Urges Fast-Track Finalisation of Electric Vehicles Policy 2025

LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has called for the speedy finalisation of Pakistan’s Electric Vehicles (EV) Policy 2025 and its prompt submission to the federal cabinet for approval.

Chairing a high-level meeting on Saturday, the Prime Minister reviewed the proposed framework aimed at promoting the electric vehicle sector in the country. During the session, the draft of the EV Policy 2025 was thoroughly examined.

The Prime Minister stressed the need for urgent, priority-based steps to encourage the use of electric motorcycles, scooters, three-wheelers, cars, and buses across Pakistan. He highlighted that advancing the EV sector is essential for modernising transportation and reducing environmental impact.

PM Shehbaz Sharif also emphasised the importance of swiftly establishing supporting infrastructure, such as charging stations and battery swapping points, to ensure the successful rollout and expansion of electric vehicles nationwide.

Additionally, the Prime Minister instructed authorities to facilitate industries involved in the local manufacturing of electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers, aiming to strengthen domestic production capabilities.
