Aamir Khan Reveals How Javed Miandad’s Six Ruined His Wedding Day Joy

Mumbai: Bollywood superstar and “Mr Perfectionist” Aamir Khan recently shared a surprising and emotional anecdote about his wedding day, revealing that a historic cricket moment turned his happiness into disappointment.

In an interview, Aamir recalled that he and Reena Dutta secretly got married at the age of 21, going against their families’ wishes. When the newlyweds returned home, no one noticed their absence because both families were glued to the television, watching the intense cricket match between India and Pakistan.

That match was none other than the legendary April 10, 1986, game in Sharjah, where Pakistani cricket icon Javed Miandad hit a last-ball six to snatch victory from India. Aamir said he was overjoyed thinking India would win — until Miandad’s six shattered his celebration.

“India was about to win, and I was thrilled,” Aamir recalled. “But when Javed Miandad hit that six, my happiness turned into sadness — right on my wedding day.”

Years later, Aamir had the chance to meet Miandad on a flight and jokingly told him, “Javed bhai, you ruined my wedding day. It was the happiest day of my life, and your six turned it into a disappointment.”
