Big news for those using 200 to 400 units of electricity

Lahore: Relief Proposed for Electricity Consumers Using 200–400 Units – PML-N MPA Urges Government Action.
Lahore – In a significant move aimed at easing the burden of high electricity bills, Pakistan Muslim League (N) Member of the Punjab Assembly, Pir Ashraf Rasool, has called on the government to reform the electricity billing system to provide relief for low-income consumers.
The MPA has written an official letter to the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), highlighting the growing public concern over rising electricity costs. In his letter, he proposed that the current subsidised limit of 200 units should be extended to 400 units, allowing a broader segment of the population to benefit from lower electricity rates.
Pir Ashraf Rasool emphasised that the current billing structure excludes many deserving families who slightly exceed the 200-unit threshold but still struggle to pay high electricity bills. He argued that revising the subsidy limit would significantly ease financial pressure on working-class households.
He further stated that such reforms would not only help reduce public frustration and dissatisfaction but also lower the rate of bill defaults, which pose a challenge to the energy sector’s sustainability.
