Government deploys paramilitary forces in Islamabad Ahead of PTI’s Nov. 24 Protest

Islamabad: In anticipation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ‘decisive’ protest scheduled for November 24, the federal government has approved the deployment of paramilitary forces to maintain law and order in the capital city, ARY News reported.
The Ministry of Interior issued a notification authorising the deployment of Pakistan Rangers and Frontier Constabulary (FC) to assist the Islamabad police in countering any potential unrest or violence during the planned demonstrations.
The decision came after a formal request by Islamabad’s Chief Commissioner, who sought additional support to ensure public safety and protect key infrastructure during the protests.
The notification stated that both paramilitary forces would operate under the Anti-Terrorism Act, granting them the authority to act decisively to maintain peace and order.
Sources confirmed that Rangers personnel will be stationed at strategic locations across Islamabad to deter any untoward incidents. Their primary responsibilities include aiding police in managing security, safeguarding public property, and ensuring the safety of citizens.
The announcement follows PTI founder Imran Khan’s declaration of November 24 as the date for a “final protest” in Islamabad. Currently incarcerated, Khan has called for a significant demonstration, raising concerns about potential disturbances in the capital.
