Karachi’s largest ambulance service, run by the Edhi Foundation, has been disconnected from the public for the past 48 hours due to its emergency helpline (115). The disruption occurred after cables were reportedly cut by drug addicts, according to Edhi officials.

The helpline, which typically handles 1,200 daily calls related to hospital emergencies and accidents, is currently non-functional. The Edhi Foundation stated that this breakdown has made it impossible to respond promptly to emergencies and accidents across the city.

The foundation has issued a mobile number but can only accommodate around 100 calls per day, far below the daily demand.

Efforts to resolve the issue with the relevant authorities have been ongoing for the last three days, but no practical steps have been taken so far. This delay has left Karachi’s residents struggling to access vital emergency services during critical situations.

The Edhi Foundation has urged authorities to expedite the restoration of the helpline to ensure the timely delivery of life-saving services.
