Sindh CM Reviews Work on Medical Complex

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress on the establishment of the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Engineering College in Gadap and the National Medical Complex near Razzaqabad.

The meeting was attended by provincial ministers Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Syed Sardar Shah, Jam Khan Shoro, Ali Hassan Zardari, and Muhammad Ismail Rahu, along with senior government officials, including Chairman P&D Najam Shah and Finance Secretary Fayaz Jatoi.

Officials briefed the Chief Minister that the engineering college is being constructed on 1,554 acres of land, with Rs729.96 million spent so far since the project began in 2015.

The institution will feature administration and academic blocks, an auditorium, and a library hall, with departments in Civil, Electrical, and Computer Software Engineering. Residential facilities, including student and teacher hostels, staff flats, and bungalows, are also under construction.

CM Murad Ali Shah directed the Finance Department to release the remaining funds immediately and ensure that construction is expedited. “I want the construction of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Engineering College to be accelerated,” he stated.

National Medical Complex, Razzaqabad

The meeting was also informed that the 200-bed National Medical Complex is under development near Razzaqabad along the National Highway at a total cost of Rs4.6 billion, with Rs1 billion already utilized.

The facility will include a 10-bed ICU burns ward, 20-bed medical and surgical ICU, CCU, 10-bed dialysis ward, 10-chair thalassemia centre, and a 30-bed emergency unit. Construction of the kitchen block and staff colony is also progressing, while the ground and first floors of the main building have been completed.

The Chief Minister instructed that the remaining funds be released promptly and ordered the completion of the National Medical Complex within one year, directing officials to submit progress reports every three months.
