Strong Earthquake Hits Türkiye, Magnitude 6.1 Recorded, Buildings Damaged

According to foreign media reports, a strong earthquake hits Türkiye with a magnitude of 6.1. The quake was felt in the western part of the country, causing damage to several buildings. So far, there have been no reports of casualties. The tremors created panic among residents, forcing people to rush out of their homes.
Reports said the earthquake’s epicenter was near the town of Sındırgı in Balıkesir province, with a depth of about six kilometers. Tremors were also felt in major cities including Istanbul, Bursa, Manisa, and Izmir.
Local authorities reported that several buildings developed cracks while some suffered partial damage. Emergency response teams were quickly dispatched to the affected areas to assess the situation and provide assistance where needed.
The earthquake caused fear and anxiety among the public. Many residents stayed outside in open areas for safety, while officials urged people to remain calm and follow safety instructions.
It is worth noting that a strong earthquake hits Türkiye earlier in August as well, with the same 6.1 magnitude. That quake killed one person and injured dozens. In 2023, Türkiye also experienced a devastating earthquake that claimed more than 55,000 lives.
