Karachi to experience strong winds and cold weather this weekend

KARACHI: Karachi is set to experience strong winds starting tomorrow, with gusts expected to reach speeds of 25 to 35 km/h, as per Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz. These winds, originating from the northeast, will affect the city on December 24 and 25.
The weather forecast indicates a significant drop in temperatures during this period. While the daytime high is expected to hover around 25°C, temperatures are predicted to drop significantly at night, potentially reaching between 9°C and 11°C.
Sardar Sarfraz’s remarks come as Karachi has experienced single-digit temperatures multiple times this month. The cold wave is not confined to the port city alone; several areas in Balochistan have also witnessed temperatures dipping below freezing.
In Balochistan, Quetta recorded a temperature of -5°C, Kalat and Zhob saw -4°C, and Ziarat experienced -7°C. Additionally, parts of Lahore and Mirpur in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) received the first rain of the winter season on Monday.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has also predicted more light showers for Lahore in the next 24 hours. Furthermore, snowfall has commenced in Murree, reflecting the changing weather conditions across the region.
