Pakistan Ranked World’s Most Polluted Country in 2025 Air Quality Report

Pakistan has been ranked as the world’s most polluted country in 2025, raising serious environmental and public health concerns.
The findings were revealed in the annual global air quality report released by Swiss company IQAir, which analyzed data from thousands of cities worldwide.
According to the report, only 13 countries meet the air quality standards set by the World Health Organization, while the majority continue to face severe pollution challenges.
Data shows that Pakistan recorded PM2.5 levels—fine particulate matter harmful to human lungs—at 13 times higher than the recommended global limit.
The report also ranked Bangladesh and Tajikistan as the second and third most polluted countries, respectively.
In contrast, Australia, Iceland, and Estonia were identified among the cleanest nations due to effective control over industrial and vehicular emissions.
The report further noted that only 14% of cities globally meet WHO air quality standards, with most polluted cities concentrated in South Asia and China, highlighting the urgent need for global environmental action.
