Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has stressed that successful negotiations between the United States and Iran are vital for global stability, asserting that peace must prevail with “no room for a Plan B.”

In an interview with a British media outlet, the former foreign minister said a ceasefire had been achieved after weeks of intense diplomatic efforts, describing it as a critical opportunity to prevent further escalation. He warned that continued conflict could have devastating consequences not only in terms of human lives but also for the global economy.

Bilawal noted that negotiations are currently being guided by Iran’s proposed framework, though differences remain on several points. He added that recent hostilities, including bombings and retaliatory actions, have subsided, creating space for confidence-building between the two sides.

Bilawal Rejects Nobel Prize, Prioritizes Lasting Regional Peace

The conflict, which began earlier this year, led to widespread instability across the region and disrupted global trade routes, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz. The situation escalated following coordinated strikes involving the US and Israel, triggering a strong response from Tehran and resulting in significant casualties.

A ceasefire was eventually announced on April 8 by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, halting weeks of hostilities. Bilawal emphasised that maintaining this ceasefire and translating it into a lasting agreement is essential.

Responding to speculation about a potential Nobel Peace Prize nomination, he said the priority remains achieving durable peace rather than personal recognition.

He underscored that the international community is closely watching the Pakistan-facilitated talks, expressing hope that ongoing dialogue will lead to a sustainable resolution and prevent further regional and global fallout.
