Lahore Court sentences YouTuber Rajab Butt to community service for keeping a Lion cub

Lahore’s Judicial Magistrate sentenced TikToker and YouTuber Rajab Butt to one year of community service for illegally keeping a lion cub as a pet. The case was filed by the Wildlife Department after Rajab admitted to his actions.

According to the court’s decision, Rajab will work under the supervision of a probation officer and raise awareness about animal rights through vlogs. He is required to produce a five-minute video each month discussing animal protection and rights, which will only be uploaded with the probation officer’s approval.

The court further instructed the Wildlife Department to provide Rajab with educational materials on animal rights. The decision emphasized that if summoned by the probation officer, Rajab must appear in person. Failure to comply with these terms will result in a report being submitted to the court.

In a statement, Rajab expressed regret over his actions, admitting he was unaware that wild animals cannot be kept as pets or gifted. He acknowledged the importance of protecting wildlife and vowed to use his platform to raise awareness about the issue.
