Airspace Restrictions Announced Over Karachi and Lahore for One Month

For security purposes, Pakistan’s aviation authorities have declared that several airspace zones over Karachi and Lahore would be temporarily closed.

A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) published by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) states that some areas of the Flight Information Regions (FIRs) in Karachi and Lahore would be blocked every day starting 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM throughout May 2025.

Aviation sources revealed that the move is precautionary and aimed at ensuring national security during specific hours. Despite the partial airspace closures, routine commercial flight operations will continue without major disruption.

Air traffic controllers have been instructed to provide pilots with the most recent navigation during the limited hours, and flights will be diverted via alternate routes.
