Rawalpindi: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has approved a five-day physical remand of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder in connection with a case registered at the New Town police station. The hearing was conducted by Special Court Judge Amjad Ali Shah at Adiala Jail.

The court directed the police to interrogate the PTI founder at Adiala Jail during the remand period. This decision came after the police submitted a remand application in Case No. 2831, related to allegations of arson and damaging public property during protests on September 28.

State Prosecutor Zaheer Shah argued in favour of the remand, emphasising the need for further investigation, while the PTI founder’s legal team opposed the request, presenting counterarguments against the remand.

After hearing both sides, Judge Amjad Ali Shah approved the police’s request, allowing them to retain custody of the PTI founder for five days to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
