Arrest warrant issued against Bangladeshi cricketer Shakib Al Hasan

Bangladeshi cricket star Shakib Al Hasan finds himself in hot water as a Dhaka court issued an arrest warrant against him in connection with a dishonoured cheque case involving IFIC Bank. The case alleges that the 37-year-old, along with three others, failed to settle a debt of BDT 41.4 million (approximately 4.14 crore taka) through two cheques that were returned due to insufficient funds.
The cheques were linked to Shakib’s company, Al Hasan Agro Farm Ltd., which had taken loans from the bank. Despite being summoned, the cricketer, who has been living abroad since August 2024, did not appear in court following his implication in the case on December 15, 2024.
Shakib, one of Bangladesh’s most celebrated cricketers, has maintained silence on the matter so far. The news has sent shockwaves through the cricket community and his fan base, raising questions about his legal and professional future.
