Diego Borella, assistant director of the popular Netflix series Emily in Paris, has died suddenly during filming. The tragic incident occurred in Venice, Italy, where the fifth season of the show was being recorded. His death shocked both the crew and fans of the series worldwide.

According to Italian media, the 47-year-old collapsed while preparing for a shoot at the Hotel Danieli. Medical staff rushed to provide immediate assistance but could not save him. The sudden loss left the production team in deep grief.

Paramount Television Studios, which produces the series for Netflix, confirmed Borella’s death. In a statement, they expressed sorrow over losing a valued member of their production family. They also extended condolences to his relatives and close friends during this difficult time.

Following the incident, the filming of the show was temporarily halted. The fifth season had begun shooting in Venice on 15 August and was scheduled to wrap by 25 August. Reports suggest filming will resume after Borella’s funeral.

Emily in Paris first premiered in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and quickly became a global hit. Known for its romantic comedy themes and Parisian charm, the show has built a large international fan base. Each new season attracts millions of viewers worldwide.

The upcoming season is expected to release later this year on Netflix. However, the sudden death of Borella has cast a shadow over production. Despite the tragedy, the creators remain committed to completing the series and honouring his memory.
