Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ata Tarar, has described the £190 million corruption case as “the biggest mega-corruption scandal in Pakistan’s history,” emphasising that the verdict marks a significant victory for justice.

In an exclusive conversation regarding the verdict, Ata Tarar called the case an “open-and-shut” matter, asserting that the decision illustrates the triumph of justice in Pakistan. He criticised the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing the party’s founder, Imran Khan, and his wife, Bushra Bibi, of returning all recovered funds to the individual from whom they had been seized.

“If there was nothing to hide, why was the problem submitted to the federal cabinet in a packed envelope?” Ata Tarar questioned, adding further criticism to the PTI leadership’s handling of the situation.

The information minister also accused PTI of widespread corruption, stating, “Their hands are stained with corruption, and today justice has prevailed.”

Despite the outcome of the case, Tarar expressed support for continued political negotiations, stating that dialogue should persist regardless of the decision’s impact. He also addressed the PTI’s call for a judicial commission, noting that such commissions are typically formed for ambiguous issues, and therefore, the PTI’s demand was unnecessary and unwarranted.
