The ruling Labor Party has once again secured victory in Australia’s general elections, while the opposition has accepted its defeat.
According to international media reports, a party needs at least 76 seats to form a government. The Labor Party surpassed this with a strong win, securing 86 seats. Notably, the opposition leader—known for his anti-Muslim views—lost his own seat.
The Liberal Party faced significant backlash during the campaign, particularly over its pro-Israel stance. Opposition leader Peter Dutton conceded defeat and congratulated Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on his victory.
“We didn’t perform as expected in this election, and I take full responsibility,” Dutton stated in his concession speech.
With this win, Anthony Albanese becomes the first Australian Prime Minister in 21 years to win back-to-back three-year terms.
