INDORE: Two Australian women cricketers were harassed by a motorcyclist in India’s Indore as they were walking to a café, Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed on Saturday.

The incident occurred ahead of Australia’s final Women’s World Cup league match against South Africa.

Cricket Australia reported that the players were approached and touched inappropriately by the motorcyclist while walking on Thursday morning, a day after Australia’s victory over England.

According to CA, the matter was swiftly reported by team security to the police, who are now investigating the incident.

Rajesh Dandotiya, Indore’s Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), told BBC that the accused had been following the cricketers for some time, passing lewd remarks before moving his motorcycle closer and making inappropriate physical contact.

The accused was identified via CCTV footage and was subsequently arrested.

In the ICC Women’s World Cup, Australia created a new record by chasing 331 runs against India, making it the highest successful run chase in women’s ODI history. The match was full of exciting moments and brilliant performances from both sides.

India batted first in the match played in Visakhapatnam. Openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal gave a strong start with a 155-run partnership. Mandhana scored 80 runs, while Pratika made 75. Other batters like Harleen Deol (38), Jemimah Rodrigues (33), and Richa Ghosh (32) helped India reach a total of 330 runs in 49 overs.
