Babar Azam close to breaking Rohit Sharma’s T20 record

Pakistan cricket star Babar Azam is on the verge of making history in T20 international cricket. The right-handed batter is just a few runs away from overtaking Indian legend Rohit Sharma’s record for the most runs in T20Is. Fans around the world are excited to see him achieve this milestone soon, as Babar Azam close to breaking Rohit Sharma’s T20 record.
So far, Babar Azam has scored 4,223 runs in 128 T20 international matches. Rohit Sharma, who tops the list, has 4,231 runs in 159 matches. This means Babar needs only nine more runs to surpass Rohit and become the highest run-scorer in T20I history.

After being rested from the T20 team last December, Babar Azam has now made a comeback. Following Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the Asia Cup 2025, he was recalled for the home series against South Africa. In this series, he is expected to bat at the number three position, according to the head coach.
The upcoming T20 series between Pakistan and South Africa will be played from October 28 to November 1. The first match will take place at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, while the remaining two games will be held at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. It’s the perfect opportunity for Babar to reach a new landmark in front of home fans.
