Babar Azam’s omission sparks debate as father hits back at critics

The exclusion of Pakistan’s star batter, Babar Azam, from the T20I squad has triggered intense discussions within the cricketing fraternity. Amid widespread criticism, Babar’s father, Azam Siddique, took to Instagram to defend his son and issue a strong message to former players and critics.
In his statement, Siddique acknowledged the decision while expressing confidence in Babar’s return through strong performances in domestic cricket and PSL. He urged former cricketers to be mindful of their words, warning that a response might be difficult for them to handle.
“Boss is always right. Despite being named in the ICC’s T20I Team of the Year and receiving the captaincy, Babar has been dropped. But no worries; he will be back soon after proving himself in the National T20 and PSL, Insha Allah,” he wrote.
He further defended his outspoken stance, emphasising his role as Babar’s first coach, mentor, and strongest supporter. Addressing critics, he suggested that before commenting, they should review their own past performances on the PCB website.
