Balochistan CM Sarfaraz Bugti shuts down zakat department over mismanagement

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti has officially dissolved the provincial Zakat Department, citing poor performance and severe mismanagement.
Despite an annual allocation of Rs 300 million meant for the needy, the department shockingly spent Rs 1.6 billion on its own operational expenses, including maintaining a fleet of 80 vehicles.
CM Bugti revealed that no Zakat funds had been distributed over the past two years, prompting this decisive action.
To enhance transparency and efficiency, the provincial government will now channel the Rs 300 million directly through deputy commissioners, ensuring that the funds reach deserving individuals without unnecessary administrative costs.
