Ban on pillion riding imposed in Karachi for Youm-e-Ali

KARACHI: The Karachi administration has imposed a two-day ban on pillion riding under Section 144 in light of Youm-e-Ali to maintain law and order in the city.
According to a notification issued by Commissioner Karachi, the restriction will remain in effect from the 21st to the 22nd of Ramadan. Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against those violating the ban. However, exemptions have been granted to women, children, elderly individuals, and journalists.
Karachi Police has implemented comprehensive security arrangements to ensure the safety of the central procession on Youm-e-Ali. Additional Inspector General (IG) Karachi, Javed Alam Odho, personally reviewed the security measures.
A total of 5,367 police officers and personnel have been deployed for security duties. Walk-through gates have been installed at entry and exit points of the procession route to enhance security screening.
