Bangladesh and Pakistan Agree on Visa-Free Travel for Official Passport Holders

Bangladesh and Pakistan have agreed to let people with diplomatic and official passports travel without visas.

Bangladesh’s interim government, led by Muhammad Yunus, approved the decision for five years.

The deal was announced in Dhaka, and it allows officials from both countries to visit freely. Bangladesh already has similar agreements with more than 30 countries.

The agreement comes after talks between senior officials of both nations. Travel without visas had been stopped since the 1971 war when Bangladesh became independent. Now, both sides want to improve cooperation and rebuild trust.

They are also working on a plan to allow visa-on-arrival for official passports.

Relations between the two countries have improved since the August 2024 uprising in Bangladesh.

Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan is also visiting Dhaka to boost trade ties. Experts believe the visa deal will lead to stronger relations, more trade, and greater cooperation in the future.
