Bangladesh Cricketer Shakib Al Hasan Barred from Leaving Country

Veteran Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has been prevented from travelling abroad as authorities investigate allegations of corruption against him and several others.

According to Bangladeshi media, a Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on 14 individuals, including Shakib Al Hasan and former lawmaker Abul Khair. The court issued the order following a request from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC informed the court that it is investigating large-scale corruption and fears the accused may try to flee the country to avoid the legal process.

The list of those under investigation includes Abul Khair’s wife, Kazi Sadia Hassan, Abul Kalam Matbar, Kanoka Afroz, Mohammad Bashar, Sajed Matbar, Aleya Begum, Kazi Fuad Hassan, Kazi Farid Hassan, Shirin Akhter, Javed A Matin, Zahed Kamal, Humayun Kabir, and Tanvir Nizam.
