Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to Meet in Karachi for Rabi-ul-Awwal Moon Sighting
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Karachi today to sight the moon of Rabi-ul-Awwal. According to the Meteorological Department, the meeting will be chaired by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. The session will take place at the Met Office in Karachi after Asr prayers.

 

Officials from the Meteorological Department confirmed that committee members from Karachi will attend the meeting. Representatives of the Ministry of Religious Affairs will also join. In addition, experts from SUPARCO and the Ministry of Science and Technology will be present. Their input will support the moon sighting process.

Alongside the central meeting, zonal committees will also gather in different cities. Sessions will be held in Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, and other regions. Reports from these zonal bodies will then be forwarded to the central committee for a final decision.

The Meteorological Department added that the final announcement regarding the sighting will be made by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. His statement will confirm whether the new Islamic month has begun. This official declaration will apply across Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has already sighted the moon of Rabi-ul-Awwal. Authorities confirmed that the new month will begin on 24 August 2025. The announcement was widely shared on the Haramain social media account.
