Bangladesh’s veteran cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim has officially retired from One-Day Internationals (ODIs) following his team’s disappointing run in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Rahim announced his decision on social media, calling the last few weeks mentally challenging.

“I am retiring from ODIs today. Alhamdulillah for everything. While our global achievements may have been limited, I always gave more than 100% for my country with dedication and honesty.”

The 36-year-old wicketkeeper-batter debuted in 2005 and played 274 ODIs, scoring 7,795 runs, including nine centuries and 49 fifties. He was instrumental in Bangladesh’s historic win against India in the 2007 ICC World Cup, scoring an unbeaten 56 runs.

Rahim follows Steve Smith, who also announced his ODI retirement a day earlier after Australia’s semi-final exit.
