China Hosts Its First-Ever Robot Football Tournament — AI Robots Take the Field

Beijing: In a groundbreaking event for artificial intelligence and robotics, China held its first-ever Robot Football League Tournament, featuring matches between teams of three fully autonomous robot players. Thousands of spectators gathered to witness AI-powered strategies turn into spectacular goals on the field.

Held in Beijing, the tournament showcased advanced AI technology where robots operated independently without human control. The audience was treated to thrilling moments as the machines executed well-planned manoeuvres and scored with precision, offering a glimpse into the future of AI in sports.

Du Jing, Executive Director of the tournament’s organising committee and Deputy General Manager of Shengyi Cheng Technology, shared his thoughts on the event:

“This is the first fully autonomous AI robot football match in China. It marks a major step in technological innovation and the integration of robotics into industrial and real-world applications. It opens a new chapter in bringing robots into daily life and real-world scenarios.”

The final match saw Tsinghua University’s THU Robotics Team claim victory over the Mountain-C Team from China Agricultural University with a score of 5-3, securing the tournament title in an exciting showdown.
