Comsats senate reviews reforms and expansion plans

The 9th Senate meeting of COMSATS University Islamabad was held under the chairmanship of Khalid Hussain Magsi, where key academic, administrative, financial, and policy matters were reviewed in detail.
According to the official statement, the meeting focused on improving human resource management and strengthening the career development system within the university. Participants emphasized the need for modernizing institutional practices to enhance efficiency and professional growth opportunities for staff.
Progress on open and distance learning programmes was also reviewed, highlighting efforts to expand access to education and provide flexible learning opportunities for students across the country. The senate also discussed the potential implementation of electronic voting systems within the university and other institutions to improve transparency and governance.

During the session, several welfare-related issues were taken up, including daily wages, scholarships, and employee benefits. The senate approved important administrative and academic appointments, along with decisions made by the selection board. Promotions for both faculty and non-faculty members were also endorsed.
In addition, the meeting approved the affiliation of new educational institutions, reflecting the university’s continued expansion and outreach in the higher education sector. The agenda underscored COMSATS University’s commitment to maintaining academic excellence and institutional growth.
Federal Minister Khalid Hussain Magsi stressed the importance of strengthening the role of sub-committees and enhancing coordination across different departments to ensure effective implementation of policies.
