Lahore: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has delivered its verdict in the high-profile abduction case of renowned playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, sentencing the main accused, Aamna Urooj, to seven years in prison.

Judge Arshad Javed announced the decision, which also handed down seven-year sentences to co-accused Mamnoon Haider and Zeeshan Qayyum. Meanwhile, other accused, including Hassan Shah, were acquitted due to lack of evidence.

The verdict was reserved on April 12 after the completion of witness testimonies and final arguments by legal counsels.

According to witness statements, Aamna Urooj lured Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar to her flat under false pretences and abducted him. Police investigations revealed that she was part of a blackmailing gang targeting high-profile individuals to extort money. Aamna was apprehended through mobile data tracking, which subsequently led authorities to other members of the group.
