Cricketer Files Petition Against PCB Over World Cup Exclusion

Karachi: Pakistani cricketer Taimoor Ali has approached the Sindh High Court after being left out of the T20 World Cup squad.

He claims the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ignored his strong domestic performances while selecting less deserving players.

According to his lawyer, Taimoor Ali is among the country’s best first-class cricketers. His record in domestic cricket has been consistent and impressive. The lawyer argued that many selected players have weaker performances compared to him.

The petition stated that Taimoor Ali had already filed an appeal under Section 37 of the PCB rules. The appeal challenged what he described as discriminatory treatment. However, the PCB has not yet given any decision on his appeal.

His lawyer urged the court to direct the PCB to review and decide on the appeal. He argued that Taimoor deserves fair consideration. He also pointed out that ignoring players with stronger records undermines merit-based selection.

Justice Adnan Iqbal questioned whether the Sindh High Court has jurisdiction over such a petition against the PCB. The lawyer responded that higher courts had previously heard similar cases. He referred to past decisions on petitions by former Test cricketer Danish Kaneria.
