Danish Taimoor responds to backlash over polygamy remark

Pakistani actor Danish Taimoor has addressed the criticism he faced following a controversial statement on polygamy during a Ramadan transmission on television.
During the show, Taimoor remarked that men have the right to marry four times, adding that although he had not exercised this right, he could if he chose to. His comment, particularly the use of the word “filhal” (for now), sparked a backlash among viewers, who perceived it as disrespectful to his wife, Ayeza Khan, who was present during the discussion.
Following widespread criticism, Taimoor issued a response on Instagram, clarifying that he never intended to offend anyone or disrespect his wife.
“Maybe I should not have used that word; maybe it was a slip of the tongue,” he admitted. He explained that he frequently uses the term “filhal” in daily conversations to emphasise living in the present moment.
The actor further stated, “It has been 18 years since I entered the industry, and I have never been involved in a controversy. I want to keep it that way.”
