Dense fog and smog blanket Punjab; motorways closed due to low visibility.

Thick fog and intense smog have engulfed Punjab, severely limiting visibility and prompting authorities to close several major motorways to ensure public safety. The smog, coupled with fog, has created hazardous driving conditions, making it unsafe for vehicles on high-speed routes.
In response to these conditions, the National Highways and Motorways Police (NHMP) have implemented temporary closures on key motorways in the region. Motorway M2, which connects Lahore to Islamabad, has been closed from Lahore to Bhera. Similarly, Motorway M3 is shut down from Lahore to Darkhana, and Motorway M4 is blocked from Multan to Pindi Bhattian. Additionally, Highway M5, connecting Multan to Sukkur, and the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway have also been closed to traffic.
According to an NHMP spokesperson, these closures are a precautionary measure to prevent accidents. “Safety is our priority, and we urge the public to avoid unnecessary travel and use alternative routes where possible. Motorway Police are monitoring conditions closely and will reopen routes as soon as visibility improves,” the spokesperson stated.
