Dr.Babar Awan calls for Shehbaz Sharif’s resignation and the governor’s rule in Punjab

Former law minister and senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr. Babar Awan has demanded a commission to investigate the D-Chowk protest incident. He emphasised that if local action is not taken In an exclusive conversation with Islamabad Bureau Chief Abbas Shabbir, Dr. Awan criticised the Shehbaz Sharif government, urging the prime minister to step down immediately and calling for the imposition of the governor’s rule in Punjab.
Dr. Awan stressed the need to end fascism to save the country, asserting that there was no division within the party and that the public stood with PTI’s founder. He described the situation in the federal government as chaotic, noting that millions had participated in PTI’s protest.
He further stated that while Shehbaz Sharif may have the aftermath of the Model Town tragedy, he will not be managing the current crisis. Dr. Awan also acknowledged that PTI could face criticism but firmly asserted that there was no internal division within the party and that the party’s founder would soon be released.
Referring to the firing incident during the protest, Dr. Awan questioned how protesters could have dispersed without the use of force and called for the immediate resignation of Shehbaz Sharif and the two ministers involved in the incident.
