Islamabad, August 19, 2025: Tremors from a moderate earthquake shook Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar on Tuesday morning. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) confirmed the quake.

The earthquake struck at 10:20 a.m. with a magnitude of 5.2. Its epicenter was in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush mountain range, at a depth of about 190 kilometers.

Panic spread quickly as people felt the jolts. Residents recited prayers and rushed out of homes and offices for safety. Streets and open spaces filled within minutes.

Fortunately, authorities reported no casualties or property damage. Emergency services remained on alert, but the situation stayed under control. The public was urged to remain calm.

Experts explained that repeated quakes in the Hindu Kush region are caused by constant movement of underground tectonic plates. The area is known for seismic activity.

The PMD assured citizens that it continues to monitor seismic patterns closely. Officials reminded people to follow safety guidelines during tremors to minimize risks and protect lives.
