Nankana Sahib: All educational institutions in the district will remain closed from April 12 to April 16 in view of the Baisakhi festival and the large influx of Sikh pilgrims from India.

According to a notification issued by the district administration, the decision has been made considering security and traffic management. The main Baisakhi ceremony will be held on April 14, with over 2,000 police personnel deployed to ensure safety.

Under the Pakistan-India religious tourism agreement, 3,000 visas are usually issued to Sikh pilgrims. However, this year, over 7,000 Indian pilgrims have expressed interest in attending the Baisakhi festival.

The Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi has been requested to increase the visa quota accordingly.
