Electricity per unit is likely to become expensive

Electricity prices may rise again as a 10 paisa per unit increase is expected under the monthly fuel adjustment mechanism.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a request to NEPRA for the fuel cost adjustment for May 2025. According to the CPPA, more than 12.75 billion units of electricity were generated during May at an average cost of Rs. 7.49 per unit, while the reference cost was set at Rs. 7.39 per unit.

NEPRA will hold a hearing on the request on June 30, after which a final decision will be made.
