Fake Cops Nabbed in Islamabad, Kidnapped Citizen Rescued

ISLAMABAD: In a swift and coordinated operation, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police successfully arrested three suspects impersonating police officers and rescued a kidnapped citizen in the Bani Gala area on Saturday.

The accused, identified as Khalid Mahmood, Muhammad Zafar, and Jameel Ahmad, allegedly abducted a citizen while posing as law enforcement personnel. Acting quickly on intelligence, police apprehended the suspects and recovered a snatched vehicle, police uniforms, handcuffs, face masks, a wireless set, weapons, and ammunition, including the car used in the crime.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Muhammad Jawad Tariq praised the police team’s rapid response, emphasising that strong action will be taken against individuals threatening public safety.

He said, “Anyone who endangers the safety and dignity of our citizens will face strict consequences.” The case is under investigation, and further legal proceedings are underway.
