FBR Sets Final Deadline for Tax Returns Today

ISLAMABAD — The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has confirmed that October 15 is the final deadline for filing income tax returns. Officials clarified that no further extension will be granted and urged taxpayers — especially the salaried class — to file their returns before midnight.
Legal action will be initiated against those who miss the deadline. Late filers will face higher withholding tax rates and may be excluded from certain financial benefits.

Crackdown on Social Media Tax Evaders
In a new move, the FBR has launched Social Media Lifestyle Monitoring Teams to identify individuals who showcase extravagant lifestyles online but fail to submit tax returns.
According to sources, lists of suspected non-filers have been prepared. These include people displaying:
-
Luxury vehicles
-
Expensive jewelry, watches, and clothing
-
Lavish homes and farmhouses
-
Celebratory cash-throwing events like musical and Qawali gatherings
The FBR’s crackdown on social media-based tax evaders is scheduled to begin on October 16.
Officials also warned that any concealment of income or assets in tax filings will lead to strict legal proceedings under income tax laws.
