Final Preparations Underway for NA-213 Umerkot By-Election Tomorrow

Umerkot: Preparations are in their final stages for the by-election in NA-213 Umerkot, scheduled to take place tomorrow, Thursday, April 17. The seat was left vacant following the passing of senior PPP leader Nawab Yousuf Talpur.

The election campaign officially concluded at midnight last night, and the Election Commission has begun the distribution of polling materials across the constituency today.

A closely contested race is anticipated between Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Saba Talpur and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Lal Chand Malhi, who is being supported by the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA).

According to election authorities, 498 polling stations have been established in the constituency. Of these, 269 have been declared sensitive and 91 marked as highly sensitive due to security concerns.

To ensure a smooth electoral process, the district administration has announced a public holiday in Umerkot on April 17. Security arrangements have also been stepped up to maintain law and order during the polling.
