National Health and Population Policy
ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb chaired a meeting on Monday to review the progress of the National Health and Population Policy (NHPP) 2025-34, which aims to shape Pakistan’s health and population strategies for the next decade.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance, the NHPP team provided an update on the policy’s formulation, emphasizing evidence-based decision-making and addressing critical health issues while considering the country’s financial constraints.

The policy’s key objectives include restructuring the health infrastructure, managing rapid population growth, integrating health and population strategies, and securing increased public sector funding for healthcare. The team also proposed measures to strengthen health systems, improve resource allocation, and ensure essential services reach vulnerable populations.

Minister Aurangzeb commended the team for their efforts and urged them to submit formal recommendations for further review. He highlighted major challenges such as climate change, child stunting, and learning poverty, stressing the need for an equitable resource distribution model.

Additionally, he referenced Pakistan’s recently signed 10-year Country Partnership Framework (CPF) with the World Bank, which includes a $20 billion commitment toward health, education, climate resilience, and sustainable growth.

The meeting concluded with a pledge to continue refining the NHPP, ensuring it aligns with international best practices and effectively addresses Pakistan’s health and population challenges.
