Five German Climbers Killed

Five German climbers, including a female mountaineer, were killed after being swept away by avalanches in Italy’s South Tyrol region, authorities confirmed on Sunday.

According to British media reports, the fatalities occurred in two separate incidents, and the bodies of all five victims have been recovered from the snow-covered mountains.

Italian rescue officials said that the deceased woman’s father was also among those killed in the disaster.

Reports indicated that the climbers were traveling in separate groups when the avalanches struck. One group of three climbers was completely buried under snow and did not survive.

Survivors from nearby routes immediately alerted rescue teams, prompting a large-scale rescue operation in the area.

Authorities have urged caution in mountainous regions of northern Italy as recent heavy snowfall and changing weather conditions have increased the risk of avalanches.
