Floods Force Closure of Schools in Narowal for Public Safety

Flooding in Punjab’s Narowal district has forced the closure of all public and private schools today, Wednesday, 27 August.

Authorities confirmed the decision after heavy rains and river overflow disrupted normal life across the district.

Deputy Commissioner Narowal, Syed Hassan Raza, issued an official notification announcing the closure of educational institutions. He explained that many key connecting roads were submerged, severely affecting transport facilities in the area.

The notification stressed that the safety of children is the top priority. Therefore, keeping schools closed was considered the most effective precautionary measure under the circumstances.

Meanwhile, local authorities are actively working to rescue residents stranded in flooded villages. Efforts are being made to shift them to safer locations and established flood relief camps.
