Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal hospitalized after heart attack

Former Bangladesh one-day cricket captain Tamim Iqbal was rushed to the hospital on Monday after suffering a heart attack during a domestic cricket match.
The 36-year-old was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club in a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match when he first reported chest pain. After receiving initial medical attention on the field, he was transported to a nearby hospital in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) medical officer Debashis Chowdhury confirmed the heart attack and stated that Tamim’s heart function had improved after medical intervention. Team official Tariqul Islam urged fans to pray for Tamim’s swift recovery.
Following the incident, the BCB postponed its scheduled board meeting, with several board members rushing to the hospital to check on Tamim’s condition.
Tamim Iqbal, one of Bangladesh’s most celebrated cricketers, played 391 international matches between 2007 and 2023, amassing over 15,000 international runs.
